[En] Invisble Structures [2] is constructed as a grid of 30 images showing naked empty ground and desolated landscapes. These are images of the site of the contemporary Maya village of Panabaj, next to the Atitlan lake in Guatemala, which was buried under a mudslide on the night of the 5th of October 2005. A few days later, after having lost all hope of recovering buried bodies, the site was declared a mass grave. It is estimated that about eight hundred people are still buried under the mud. When these images were taken in March 2006, remains of what happened there since the village was buried were still visible: traces of diggings, mounds of mud, small shrines, footprints, markers of where households and properties once stood, now waiting to be rebuilt on the same spot, five metres above the old ones. The ancient Maya buried their dead in their domestic compounds; here the contemporary Maya will build new homes on top of a mass grave.
