Uncertain Landscape (2006) Under the direction of Rafael Doctor from the MUSAC, a number of photographers were commissioned to photograph the landscapes of Castilla y León. My guidebook to the land and villages of Castilla y León was an account of the three years pilgrimage, back and forth accross this land from 1506 to 1509, of the Queen Juana of Castilla with her deceased husband King Phillip I in a coffin, a pilgrimage which ended in madness and incarceration.

MANILA In Manila, strolling through the city is like an act of resistance. The obliteration of public space has been carried out in a systematic and premeditated fashion. The historical quarters have been, continuously neglected, destroyed by infrastructures and traffic so overwhelming that it feels inevitable. Subsistence traders, traders of anything, are only a bearable form of marginalised inhabitation among the smells and fluids exposed to wind and weather. This is an itinerant city a wildland of friction and mysteriously contained latent violence. In this sense, Manila is a model city of globalisation, but of the globalisation of the ‘other’. This unfinished work is the result of a residency in Manila during January and February 2006 organized by Juan Guardiola and Casa Asia.
